This man is transporting a lot of pots! He had stacked them so symmetrically; we just had to take his picture. When I leaned out of the pickup to snap this shot, he smiled and said, "Make sure and take a good picture of me!" Bengalis love to have their pictures taken. posted by Thomas at 11:48 AM Liton

Liton occasionally smiles now, but doesn't seem to be gaining much weight. Colleen took him back to the childrens hospital in the city (total of three hours travelling) and got more antibiotics. His lungs do not seem to be clearing up; we need God's wisdom to know how to proceed. Liton had two big worms that we were able to foreclose on, which should make his tummy a lot better. He was eating so much we couldn't understand where it was all going, but now we know he had to feed his tenants. His skin is becoming a bit tighter and not so baggy and his sunken cheeks are filling out little by little. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you for praying for Liton, oh he is sweet and so loved by God. posted by Thomas at 1:40 PM Goats enjoy playground too

Genodoe's goats feel quite at home here, they even play on the playground in the mouth of our plastic hippo! We appreciate their grass cutting service. What we do not like is when they eat our flowers and vegetables. posted by Thomas at 10:29 AM Christmas in September
Uttom and Bristi seem to be dressed up a bit early for the nativity scene. They love using their diaper cloths to dress up in. In the second picture they even have a baby at their feet! posted by Thomas at 5:55 PM Proverbs 23: 4

Clinton (yes, that is his first name), from the Boy's hostel, caught a rare owl recently. It was so pretty. I marvelled at the perfect heart that was seemed like it was painted around his face, God is an amazing designer. Clinton caught his owl by hitting it with a rock which might seem rather brutal but he is from the jungle and that is how they do things. Instead of being sad for the owl you can admire Clinton's amazing arm! If anyone knows the name of this owl, please let us know. posted by Thomas at 9:35 AM Chowdhuryhat flood

Last week, we had aanother small taste of flooding also here in Chowdhuryhat, our village. The roads went under water, in some parts up to the waist. Our garage flooded forcing Joli and Golap, staff at HOL, to retreat to the guest room for a few days. The rain was incessant; it blew and stormed for days on end. We wondered if the world was coming to an end. My daily walks were even more interesting than normal; people were all outside looking at the water, the men armed with flashlights as evening was approaching quickly. Some were carrying their belongings to other places for the night and there was a community feeling of helplessness. I spoke with many; they lamented about their huge loss because the farmers had just planted rice and vegetables that were now a good foot under water and destroyed. Others explained their fish had all swam away when the ponds flooded and now they were going to be without an income. One lady said, "What are you going to do for us??? You have all that nice land at the orphanage, why don't you give us some of that?" I joined in feeling helpless. One of the orphanage guards, who lives further away from the main road, had to wade through waist deep water in the rice fields in order to get to his soppy bamboo residence. Another woman spoke with me about the water and pointed to the ankle deep mud outside her house, as she talked I happen to glance at her hair. I thought she must of poured sand on her head because it was all grainy. I supposed that that was another village beauty tip I had yet to learn, like brushing your teeth with your finger and a black grainy powder that looks just like dirt or putting baby powder mixed with water on your face to cure acne. When I stole another glance at the lady, I realized that every strand of her hair was covered in hundreds of lice eggs. It was so disgusting I could hardly concentrate on what she was saying. We have had our share, okay more than our share (!), of lice over the years but this was incredible. As always written by Colleen and posted by Thomas at 4:42 PM Along the street

Prayer. He came to us almost 2 weeks ago but still needs a healing touch from our father. Would you please pray for him? He is still not "over the top". Today Apphia and Colleen went to the Doctor again and he got a new dose of Antibiotic. Please pray that he will gain weight, sleep good, eat his food and receives inner healing from God. He has not smiled yet and is in a critical medical condition.

For the last one week I have had problems posting things to our website. I assume that I know why, but don't want to write about that here. The wrong kind of people might read it. I will try to catch up.

Once a day Suk Hee Park brings out the milk powder and every little one below the age of three years gets a cup of milk. I am sure this smile if for you Priscilla! posted by Thomas at 1:57 PM Update on Awbek and Roben

Awbek is smiling all the time! What a gift that was when we returned from Germany and she flashed us a smile with a twinkle in her eye. She is still not speaking; she has not spoken once since she arrived in June. Please keep praying. Awbek, age 3 has changed her sad face for a happy one but still she needs a lot more love and time. Roben (left) is doing great. His pop belly has decreased a bit as a result of his swollen liver and malnourishment. His strength has gained in leaps and bounds. He is now a true two year terror. We love him dearly but are now busy trying to get him to stop hitting the others with his powerful arm! What a transformation has taken place in his life, we know that God has a plan with Roben, he would of surely died had he not came to the orphanage. posted by Thomas at 12:00 PM The nursery gets a new arrival

Liton arrived just three days ago. We knew within minutes of seeing him that we would accept him. His condition was very bad, he is 1yr. 8 months old and only weighs 11 lbs. It's so strange to see Liton who is about the size of a newborn baby, walking! He is too weak to walk more than a few steps but he can walk. Liton is severely malnourished and has slight pneumonia. Imagine skin and bones and that is the picture of Liton. Liton's mother brought him to us along with two men who were sent by an area commissioner. The twin brother of Liton died a few weeks ago from pneumonia and the mother looked like she was near death also, she could barely sit up straight to sign the paper she was so ill. The father is alive but has left his wife. I took Liton to the children's hospital today and although they wanted to admit him I only took the prescribed medicine and promised to care properly for him. Could you please pray with us for Liton's health? He is still not out of danger, at his weight the slightest virus could easily take him down. Please, please pray for this small boy as his future depends on God intervening. Just came back from the doctor posted by Thomas at 1:59 PM it is hot
It is noon time and supposedly the rainy season, (it did rain last night), but now we have temeratures of 100F in the shade! Imagine that with 80% humidity and know what its like here. Inside our house we have a room temperature of 91F, we do not have air conditioning but thanks to God we have electricity with our generator and speedy ceiling fans.
