The Florisson's helped this month to organize the games. The kids had fun as we did less of the usual performances. Everyone was busy preparing for their final examinations and time was spare. Happy Birthday to all who had their birthday in December. posted by Thomas at 4:54 PM Just a picture

Greetings from some girls, staff and visitors from the "Home of Love". The children look forward to the arrival of Sonia Wegscheid and her sister Naomi. Sonia was with the HOL for a couple weeks in 2004. She and another volunteer (Charlotte) learned a lot of the local language during their short stay and had a good impact on the kids. Volunteers from the Wheaton college have always come very well prepared and with a open and learning attitude. Charlotte will also be coming for a couple days in January. Life is never boring here. posted by Thomas at 3:20 PM ![]() Yesterday on Christmas Day, we attended an outreach with Jackie Pullinger. We did not understand anything because it was all in Chinese but it was great to pray in the background and somehow we all left inspired. posted by Thomas at 9:57 PM What has made impressions on us?

![]() This city seems to have the highest density of Mercedes Benz und BMW's that I have ever seen in any other city. We have never ever seen so many apartment buildings; it is not uncommon to live on the 30th or even 40th floor. Although we live in the most densely populated country of the world, still here they have more people per square mile than Bangladesh even. There are crowds everywhere and lines for the bus, subway, bathrooms, restaurants, etc. We decided that the Chinese in Hong Kong have a lot of patience! Another thing that impressed Ruben was the fact that we saw nearly no normal buses; all trolleys and buses were double-deckers. We marvelled at being served complimentary hot boiling water at the restaurants to drink. posted by Thomas at 11:55 AM We wish you a

![]() A few days ago, I put up a question on the website: What do you want for Christmas? That question, makes me suddenly flashback to my childhood. Every Christmas and Birthday I would ask my Mother what she wanted for a present and every time she would answer the same, "I want that you are good and obedient". I never liked her answer because it was so unfeasible and impractical! I would have liked much better to just buy her something. Now that I am older with my own family, I find myself answering the same way when my kids ask me what I want. My Christmas wish is this: I wish that my children, Hannah, Larisa and Ruben would not fight so often. For the children in the orphanage (also for my own kids) I wish that they would walk closely with God and give Him every area of their life. For the staff of the orphanage I wish they would learn to encourage each other and that they would be more open for Jesus. For myself I would wish myself more patience, gentleness and that I would be a better leader. Concerning the wishes of my 74 year old mother, I opted for flowers again this year because once more I failed in the obedient and good area... ![]() We have taken 9 days off and are having a Christmas holiday in Hong Kong right now. Our Chinese friends, Carol and Simon, have shown us such amazing Asian hospitality. We are so thankful for the time they gave us to show us the wonderful city. Thank you also to our good friends (former missionaries) who made this trip possible. You know how much we needed a break. posted by Thomas at 11:40 AM Girls camp

Yesterday I took this picture at the market. Prices of all the essentials are spiraling. It is real difficult for the poor. You hardly ever see woman at the market. This lady has even become a seller, maybe she has no male in her family to depend on. The time for winter vegetables has finally come. It has not rained in 10 days and the weather is lovely for my liking. It is almost a little cold at night. This is a good place to buy the sea fish. posted by Thomas at 4:40 PM Three little ones

We told the kids about a week ago that we were going to a water park. Since then they have been waiting. They also complained that we told them too early. It would have been better if we just told them the night before. We took two buses and were all together 72 kids, youth, staff and helpers. 10 of the very Little ones and 4 staff stayed home at the orphanage to watch the small ones and prepare for dinner. We especially thank Kathi and Jeremy who made the grand day possible. We had to take a boat to get to the park. All had so much fun and all said it was even better than they had imagined. posted by Thomas at 6:36 PM great weather

In many different places in Bangladesh you can see confusion like this on top of the electric posts. It does look a bit impossible to decide which one needs to be fixed, huh? Thomas is happy that he doesn't work for the telephone or electric company as he might go crazy. This is not a seldom sight to see such mixed up lines, but rather a very normal one. posted by Thomas at 1:03 PM
