Home of Love orphanage was started in 1992, after
the cyclone that hit Bangladesh earlier that same year. The casualties
of the storm
numbered around 200,000
dead. Many children found themselves without family or friends. Mr. Ick Mo
Jung and his wife founded the orphanage as a response to the growing need.
Mr. Jung had dreamt as a child of helping orphans someday and this was his
chance. They started with 1 girl and soon grew. Now, years later,
Home of Love takes care and provides for over fifty children. The children
are
given a full education, 3 healthy meals, medical care, holistic teaching,
and
a loving family
atmosphere. Many of the kids have no family and/or have never known their
parents. We believe for these especially that God remains their Father
and has brought
them to us out of his great love for each individual.
Our
vision is to create
an atmosphere of Christian love and a place for children to grow up
accepted, molded, educated, and prepared for this world.
We desire that our children will be found with hope for this nation,
will be ready to extend help in many areas of development and be an
example of correct and good behavior to the masses. The Kühn’s
would like to see the children go into many different professions and
change the face of this culture for good. We hope that in the end the
kids will not boast of growing up among foreigners but boast of their
knowledge of right and wrong. May they love Bangladesh, support and
pray for the government and be a joy to their friends, co-workers and
family.
