Many people ask us, “What happens to the kids when they grow up?” That is a hard question as each one is so different. One thing is for sure, we are not in a hurry for them to grow up and then push them out. Presently in 2009, we have 4 kids who are in university staying at the orphanage. They are a big help to us; they tutor the younger ones in the evenings, help lead devotions and meetings and set a good standard. We like having them around; it is a joy to see fruit of some of our prayers and labors. Of the few that have left Home of Love while we have been here, some have gone on to study, get married, do vocational training, get a job or join a mission.
As guardians of these children, we pray for their future and want the best for each individual. We like to remain in contact with those who have left and try to do the best we can. Securing jobs or opportunities for the children is a big struggle. Many think that since the kids were raised by foreigners they should be provided for by foreigners and should not be looking elsewhere for work. However, we would like to see our children at HOL representing our values and standards all over this nation. No matter where each one ends up, we believe they have received a great head start in life and have grown up in a loving environment thanks to our staff and so many volunteers and supporters.
