Home of Love is located in the southern part of
Bangladesh in a port city called Chittagong. Chittagong is right
on the Bay of Bengal and is home
to about 3 million people making it the second largest city in the country.
The
orphanage is situated on 9 acres of beautiful lush farm land. We
have 4 ponds and hope to one day produce enough fish to eat and sell
in the market. The drive from the city is a picturesque brightly-colored
loud experience. The road is pitiful, the jarring
and jolting, the loud horns beeping from all directions. We share
the lanes with cows, water buffalos, goats, pedestrians, buses, trucks,
rickshaws, hand-pulled flat- bed rickshaws, bicycles, banana stands,
tea stalls, playing kids, vegetable markets, brick breakers (people),
sweepers (people), and MANY other interesting sights. Upon turning
on our road, we drive down a tiny one lane dirt path with mud houses
on both sides. The courtyards of these shacks are filled with naked
children and farm animals. As the path ends a surprise awaits with
an open area where ponds, rice fields, and smart new buildings fill
the village skyline.
